My Best Tips for Great Photos!
Lets talk photos!! ⠀
Lots of you have asked me lately about the light 💡 in my photos, and I’m HAPPY to share!! ⠀
⠀
When I started coaching, I didn’t even know my iPhone would take a selfie 🤳 …I.e. the camera flipped around… 🤷🏼♀️🙄⠀
⠀
But THANKFULLY, my team training taught me ALL the goods about social media, lighting, awesome apps, and more!!! It’s been a SLOW uphill climb for the tech challenged mama, I assure you!!! ⠀
⠀
My best TIPS for putting your flare on your photos:⠀
⠀
1. Lighting 💡is EVERYTHING! I have some some favorite ring lights , because our home doesn’t allow in a lot of natural light. But even if you don’t have lights, go outside or stand in front of a well lit window! ⠀
⠀
2. CANDID is key!!! The standard selfie i took as a new coach doesn’t allow you to have a TRUE glimpse into my life or how I’m feeling!!! Pics can say 1000 words! Capture the moment and write the rest! ⠀
⠀
3. Find your FILTER! I mostly use two apps for my pics. I don’t erase wrinkles, cause…c’mon! I earned those babies! 👵🏻 But I do like to create a standard look for my feed! ⠀
⠀
My Favorite Tools
As promised, I want to share some of my favorite lighting tools with you. Lighting is EVERYTHING when taking good photos, and if you’re like me, there’s not a lot of natural light around.
Small Ring Light
This small ring light is perfect for anywhere! It does work best for close ups, and I use it in at home or on the go. No-one likes a dark selfie you cannot see!
Large Ring Light
I bought this large light on a stand a couple of years into my business. I use it for everything from recording live videos, taking my pics for. social media and even doing team trainings and videos to upload to youtube. It is WELL worth the investment, and it has held up extremely well! Even with two rowdy boys running around!
My Favorite Apps
I have been through my fair share of photo editing apps over the past four years. And as social media changes, so do some of my apps. But right now, these are the ones I use most.
I’m currently trying to upload an image here of my apps…
Squareready allows me to put the white border you see around my IG feed photos. I like it, because it keeps things neat and orderly!
Snapseed is an app I use to lighten and give depth to my photos. You can do ALL kinds of neat things with this app, but I keep it simple. I don’t want to erase wrinkles or slim my face or anything, although you could!
Wordswag is an app I’ve used for AGES! I use it mostly now to create stories with words on them or to make images for my challenge groups!
Layout is the nifty little app I make my before and after photos with!
Lightroom allows me to brand myself the most! I purchased a preset from Amazon for $4 and I use it on most of my photos to brighten the and create continuity in my visuals.
Mojo and Unfold are two of my favorite apps for creating stories! They definitely required a learning curve, but it has been so fun to play with and find my own feel and style with them! {You’ll have to watch my IG stories for examples of these 😉 }
So that is IT! That is all I can think to share today, but I hope that no matter WHY you wanted to know more about these tools of mine, you have FUN with them!
Social media can so easily become a place we compare and stack our life up to the edited images of others. And while I LOVE to use these apps to create a brand for my business, I NEVER want it to be perceived as a place of perfection! I share the real, messy, not so perfect plenty! And I pray you will too!
xoxo,
Rach
