Goal Setting for 2017
It’s time! When people buy new planners, commit to getting out of debt, getting into the gym, and resolving to be better over all.
It’s very uplifting. To see people so committed – even if it’s for a short time – to improving their lives.
But in reality, so many of us set such UNREALISTIC goals, that it’s impossible to achieve them; it gets overwhelming, and we just give up!
I wanted to share with you 5 tips on how to get started on the journey to a better you as this last week of 2016 comes to a close!
1. Set REALISTIC goals! And pray over them. I have set many goals that were not directed by God. Those don’t really work out very well. Invited God into your fitness journey. He’s the key!
2. Stop thinking of exercise as work. Find something you enjoy. For me, it’s weights. I love heavy weights mixed with some good heart pumping cardio. Chalean Extreme is always my go-to program, and the one I have the best results with. But maybe you like low impact, pilates, or even HIIT cardio. Do it. Don’t follow the crowd.
3. Schedule a time to workout. Set a goal of 3 days a week to start out and stick to it. As you conquer that, add in another. I always suggest having at least one rest day. And ALWAYS listen to your body.
4. Plan your meals in advance. Most people who begin a lifestyle change try to jump ALL in and don’t ease in. You don’t have to have every single bit of the week planned. Just start with your dinners or your lunches. That’s one reason I love my Shakeology. It’s an easy meal I can pencil in and don’t have to think about it. And it takes about 45 seconds to make!
I have a new planner for 2017, and I’m writing my dinners in it for the week. I also use an easy meal template for weekly meal planning to share with my challengers as well.
If you need some meal ideas, check out my Clean Eating Recipes Page. There are a lot of family friendly meals here too. Kid tested and mostly approved ;).
5. Find an accountability partner. Maybe it’s your spouse, your best friend, your coach or some random person at the gym. Either way, find someone or a GROUP of people to come alongside you. That’s what I love about my #TEAMTAKEHEART peeps! My coaches and my challengers are in this together! Much love and prayer goes on in our groups.
If you want to every join us, please do! I would love to help you set goals and get started and make 2017 a year to remember! Not one of regret because of unreached goals.
