One year….12 months…..52 weeks….365 days. You know the math, but I’m breaking it down for myself.
You see, I’m not really one to stick with things for very long. I change my hair, my make-up my shoes, my music every 3 or 4 months. Before Matt, I never had a boyfriend for longer than a year. After grad school, I went through 4 jobs in 5 years before I started teaching at my community college. I tried my hand at selling home decor and signing people up for an all-natural line of home cleaning products. Things I loved and believed in, but I was horrible at it! It just wasn’t for me.
So, today as I celebrate the one year anniversary of coaching, I am just a little astounded looking at how far I’ve come. For so many reasons, but some of which include the fact that:
- This is one of the most difficult and challenging things I have ever done!
- There were so many times I wanted to quit.
- Actually, I did not really want to begin in the first place!!!! (Sharing honestly here.)
- I am pushed outside my comfort zone daily….something I used to go to great lengths to avoid.
Those are just a few of the reasons I can think of when considering why I shouldn’t still be doing this coaching thing. But I could not deny that the 21 Day Fix and Shakeology was working for me!!! Especially that the challenge group I was enrolled in was helping me stick with it!

I have been helping some of my new coaches get started, and I have been looking back at my early coaching posts. Here are some that make me smile! I wanted to help people so badly to begin to believe in themselves and to inspire them to make changes the way that I had been able to. But getting started was awkward.

figuring out how to do this… |
And slowly, it got easier. I enrolled in my coach’s training programs each month. I got on the coach training calls each week. I listened to every word. I took notes. I asked questions. I fully committed to being consistent. I listened to professional development that helped me learn tools that would make me successful. I was gonna give it my all no matter what.
Even writing that now, I see that it was not from me. I felt God calling me to this very quickly after my coach asked me to join her, and I could not deny the change in my heart. The desire to help others the way I had been helped by my coach and our challenge group. And so, even on the hard days, I kept pushing. I worked out when I didn’t feel like it. I invited people to my challenge groups, even on days I didn’t feel very inspired. I prayed for God to give me the desire, the motivation, the words to help others. And every step of the way, He did.
He gave me my verse for this season of transition in my own life and I clung to it! I shared it with my challengers and anyone who would listen. God was revealing so much to me about who I am in Him, and I could not wait to share it!!!
I began to shift my focus in my challenge groups and I based my daily posts on scripture. Very clear words from God that show us that He cares very much how we take care of our bodies. And He wants us to have a positive self image no matter how our clothes fit after having our babies or as gravity takes its toll on our beautiful, youthful bodies…Can you relate?
I became a GOAL SETTER!!! I never set goals! I avoided them. I was afraid of not reaching them, so I just stayed the same. But as I began to dive into God’s word and began to invest in myself through reading and professional development, I began to learn to change my mindset. It’s amazing what you are capable of when you let go of self doubt and pray for confidence and direction!!!
And my business began to grow. My sphere of influence began to expand. My business took off, and that meant I was helping more people get started on their own lifestyle change!! It has taken some sacrifices. I have had to miss bedtime with the boys once or twice a week to jump on team calls or to lead my own. I have had to say no to dinner with girlfriends from time to time. I have definitely gotten up earlier on a consistent basis than ever before, but you know what?
It has completely been worth it!
* Worth it as people began to message me that they had lost weight.
* Worth it when moms told me about the energy they had discovered to play with their kids and spend time with their husbands
* Worth it when my weekly check is deposited into my checking account
* Worth it as I help my coaches build confidence in themselves and their ability to lead and change
* Worth it as I have formed incredible new friendships

My coach and mentor, Melanie |
* Worth it as I have been forced to lean completely on God to lead me down this unfamiliar path
* Worth it as I see my family benefiting from my hard work
I could go on and on, but as I reflect back today, on this one year anniversary of becoming a coach, I am certain of one thing. One year from today, I want to still be here.
Learning, leading, growing, and changing.
If you have any interest at all in learning more about this amazing journey I am on, I would love to share with you! I want to grow not just a team of successful coaches but a family! A family of women and men who believe in serving others. Because coaching is not just a job or a hobby for me. It is an outlet through which I can serve my challengers and my coaches. Inspiring, motivating and leading them towards something greater.
If you would like to join me or just learn more, please email me at janzenmitch@outlook.com or leave your information below. I will get back with you and we can talk about whether or not this would be something that could change your life as well!
